Alien Germs

The net result whenever any any group of people invaded another group of people has been a unplanned germ infestation. In recent history the Spanish landed in Central and South America.
The result was that 90% of the local population died from Small Pox. Same thing when blankets were handed to the American Indians. Again about 90% died from Small Pox. There is even some thought that the black plague was caused from germs on a meteor which was reported a short time before the outbreak.

So now we are "calling out" to aliens that we are here. If they 'hear' us, and they visit us, what germs will they carry and what damage will they do? The population of Earth might shrink by 75% to 90%.

So why are we actively calling out? Listening is good enough right now. And speaking of listening, there was one 70-some seconds of repeating message that might have been someone else 'calling out.' But we could not verify the signal and dropped the search. Think about that. The Earth is spinning at an angular velocity of 25,000 MPH while traveling around the Sun which is moving much faster as it circles the center of the Milky Way which is itself hurling through space.Adding up all these velocities and you can see that it might be virtually impossible to 'verify' any received message. We need to concentrate listening on that section of the sky.

And we need to re-think 'calling out' to those that are out there.

And that's the way I see it.
